What are dual rates and expo
dual rates and expo Dec 17th, 2018, 10:24 PM I am having difficulty flying my TechOne Power pop wing the low rate on aileron and elevator is 40 the expo is 20. when I finally get it airborne and increase speed the ailerons go uncontrollable and I crash it before I can respond. I had a question on youtube on this video asking what the expo would look like at 25%, 50%, and 75%. Well below is the pictures to show exactly what this will look like. This is for the aileron and the stick starts in the center. As you can see, the more expo you have, the less movement the servo will have in the beginning stick throws. Dual rates, and variable expo help deal with speed ranges. To get the airplane to pitch, a little, you need a little force. At low speeds, that takes a LOT of control surface travel. At high speeds, you might not even see the surface move. Expo, gets you access to "varying levels" of control surface reaction without needing to flip a switch. Spektrum’s dual rate and expo system is an example of how simple once complicated programming has become. As always, keep safety in mind when making changes to your transmitter.

Aura Flight Modes are used to define a profile of Dual Rates, Expo, and Control Mode that all work together for a Inputs screen (Dual Rates/Expo). Enter your high rate, say 100% and expo, say 30%. Move the switch to position 1. Enter your low rate, say 70% and expo, say 20% . Scroll up to AIL, click and scroll to ELE and repeat the process. Do same for RUD. If you want a 3 position switch you can enter High, Mid and Low rates and Expo, same process.

Dual rates are not to be ignored! This feature is an important component provided by our modern radios that make us smoother, more accomplished fliers. They are easy to program, and even the beginner-level transmitters sport dual rates. Top shelf radios have triple rates! Several radios can combine all rates on one switch. On smaller size helis, like micro helis, many people use dual rates of 70% servo travel and expo values between 30-40%, but it depends on personal preferences. Share this: Twitter Dual rate is going to limit the maximum throw of the servo whereas expo (or exponential) is going to alter how that travel happens at a given stick placement. If you are finding your flips and rolls are not fast enough, then you need to reduce the amount of dual rate you have in your Tx (get the number closer to 100 rather than 0).

DUAL RATES Dual rates are one of the neat features of our modern radios. The elevator dual rate switch is usually in the upper left front corner of the transmitter; the aileron switch is in the upper right front corner; and the rudder switch, if you have one, is in the upper right top. 15% expo and 80% dual rate is very nice and stable for my trex 450 v2 - Duration: 4:35. WC Wickedclown RC inc 3,699 views All RC pilots use dual rates and expo on their radios. This is simple explanation for beginners of what does it all mean and how control surfaces act on different settings. Before flying a new setup try all the switch positions to be sure the changes to the planes control surfaces are exactly what you wanted and are moving in the right direction! Dual Rates and Expo is all about feel. I know folks that fly speedy planes using one rate and no expo other flyers have multiple "flight phases" each with their special dual/triple rates and expo. The most important thing is to get your linkages setup mechanically so you are getting the max throw you want at 90-100% rates. Dual rate allows the pilot to create a second maximum throw setting. Most pilots keep one setting at the default 100%, and add a second setting somewhat lower. For example, if the second setting in the dual rate mode was set to 70% for all the servos, then when the stick was moved to its full position, Then you use expo. Expo is encouraged for heli pilots that need it. Dual Rates can have the servo reaction rate slow for the first part of the stick travel and then fast for the second part. Say under 50% of travel for aileron it slows down the rate of servo travel but past 50% it is live servo action so super fast. dual rates and expo Dec 17th, 2018, 10:24 PM I am having difficulty flying my TechOne Power pop wing the low rate on aileron and elevator is 40 the expo is 20. when I finally get it airborne and increase speed the ailerons go uncontrollable and I crash it before I can respond.
